We designed this surface planer board to perform as similarly to the V2 as possible in the water, despite replacing certain materials. This was done to maintain approximately the same price point as before. The 83g rudder weight is now made entirely of stainless steel (unlike the V2 weight, which consisted of 50g of tungsten carbide and 30g of stainless steel). On the V3, the solvent-based rubber coating has been replaced with a more health-friendly, fluorescent, high-adhesion vinyl. The planer board is optimized for salmon fishing at speeds between 2 and 3 knots.

Spring-back arm - The patented spring-back arm—a hallmark of Ghost planer boards—is naturally a feature of the SupraCruzV3 as well. This spring action is primarily due to the arm being mounted between RTV silicone bushings. The flexible arm holding the line clip is securely attached but replaceable in the event of breakage; spare arms are available in the webshop. A new feature of the V3 Medium is a redesigned arm mount, allowing the arm to withstand 2–3 times more bending cycles than before. (The arm is also scheduled to be updated with a new material in 2027, which will further increase its durability several times over.) 

Better protection against overly tight inside turns - When turning, it is crucial to avoid letting the line go slack on the inside planer boards, especially when fishing with long setbacks. Aside from the risk of lines crossing and tangling, excessive slack can allow the line to slip under the planer board's rudder and wrap around the wrong side of the board. This forces the board underwater and causes the release to trigger once the line tightens again. To prevent the line from snagging on the wrong side during a sharp turn, the V3 Medium has been updated with a piece of tubing fitted to the ring connecting the line clip to the arm. This keeps the line extended more effectively than before, as the tubing prevents the line clip from dropping too low. (The ring will soon be made slightly smaller for even better performance.) Using a pin-style clip (a clip with a peg that locks the line) instead of a standard snap can also reduce the risk of the line wrapping incorrectly—provided you ensure the line between the pin clip and the Scotty clip remains slack, even when the main line is under tension. 

Color - The float body is available in fluorescent yellow and fluorescent red. Visibility compared to the V2 is now slightly lower due to a change in material.
